YE OLDE BUTTFUCK - Live At Gilman - 2003

YE OLDE BUTTFUCK was born out of the ashes of CHAOS L.R. and shared the same drummer and vocalist. They put out two amazing EP's (you'll be able to get them here again one day soon) before crashing and burning at an early age. Allegedly, they wrote the first George W Bush protest song after he didn't win the election. Within hours of his buying of the vote, Y.O.B. had penned "Double Fuck W" and performed it to a rabid crowd at the Rear Entry in Chattanooga, TN. It sounded excellent, but remained unreleased and unrecorded.
This live set is very short and very sweet. What the fuck was YE OLDE BUTTFUCK, a hard drinking, Region Rock band, doing at Gilman anyway? Well, I can't really answer that...except for, it's a show space...bands play there....these things happen. The band chose this auspicious gig to unleash their cover of John Ashcroft's "Let The Eagle Soar" to a thoroughly confused and humorless crowd. You can hear a few well-wishers at the end screaming "Fuck you!" Good times all around.

Hate to be such a accurists (is that even a word?) but the 1st anti G W Bush song was played the night "" the election and was called "Double Fuck Double U". Ha ha. I remember laughing my ass off. Twas one of the best bands of the last decade. Their performence at this past DO YA HEAR WE was the highlight in my opinion. Which as you may or may not know, DOESN't MATTER!

Cool. you're right. I wrote this in 10 minutes right after I woke up. I need to work on quality again...also, your opinion matters greatly. Thanks for the info.

I'm going to change it when I'm not at work.

hey, I hate to chime in so much but just wanted to add that the set was longer but this was all of the recorded set I was able to obtain from that really really nice guy with the little mustache whose name I can't remember who always did sound at Gilman... he have it to me years later, after Ashcroft had gone back to civilian life even...

I will say, too, that Mitchell and I had high hopes for the campaign of Gov. Rick Perry, an Ashcroft-like songwriter in the wings if I ever heard one. Every one of that guy's speeches was a YOB song waiting to happen...

Chime away as much as you want. Morgan claims to have the entire show....every band that played that night...on a tape somewhere. I asked him to dig it up at his convenience.

Little moustache guy is "Apple Juice Dave"-- former SF State janitor and full time Gilman sound board engineer. The original tape is likely unlabeled and swimming around with about 100 other unlabeled tapes in a giant garbage back in S.F. I've been thinking a lot about the LITTLE BIRDS (von, patrick from poser posse/rainbow bridge, and at some point eggplant) full length tape that never got released, as well as the CLUMSY BEARS (los rabbis minus dean) tour tape a bit lately, both of which are also in said bag. I'll try to track dig it out when I'm back out that way in a few weeks.

I think I have the Little Birds, but if you wanna dig up other stuff and donate it for a bit, I'll take care of it and return them whenever you need me to.
